How to read the result

Every test breaks the request into steps: DNS resolution, TCP connection, TLS handshake (HTTPS) and the first byte of the response. The failing step tells you where to look.

  • DNS failure: the domain points to no server (expired domain, changed DNS zone).
  • Connection failure: the server does not answer on port 80 or 443 (server stopped, firewall).
  • TLS failure: expired, invalid or mismatched certificate.
  • HTTP 5xx status: the server answers, but the application crashes.

Down for everyone, or just for you?

If the site works here but not for you, the problem is probably local: DNS cache, Internet connection, browser extension or network block. Try another network (mobile data) or flush your DNS cache.

If the site is down here too, let its owner know or check their status page.
